about 2 weeks late but whatever.

2007 was pretty good. got some new clients, got to do some new things, started some myself. more apparel companies are approaching me which is sweet since it's pretty much exactly what i want to be doing (right now). I have one offer on the table right now to be art director for a new brand. iffy on it since the brand look is pretty OC/beach/cali and i think i'd hate it within a few months. whatev.

most of my year was trying to get a diff. tee line off the ground (which i won't link cuz they've already jacked up the website) and did so fairly successfully considering the 'hurdles' within the company...the same hurdles that caused me to leave the company before the year was out. basically the owner never really worked a day in her life and had zero business savvy and after awhile of poor decision making I called her on it (more specifically I basically called her an idiot) which, understandably, led to my swift termination. all for the better, they need me more than I them. when your designer has a hand in most of the business decisions somethin' ain't right.

the rest of the year was spent on freelance for a few start-ups as well assss..

long in the making it finally came to fruition w/ a fairly good launch. there's much to do here. couple of boutique bites already. I think at worst it'll slowly turn into passive income where i throw out a few new tees per year to pay for my daily expenses. want to get into making specific garments other than tees, specially for girls. something may be in the works for the first artist to release his stuff under the umbrella as well! plus, it got yesh's lazy ass to draw again so that alone was worth it.

work: http://alrightok.com/ and http://aok.carbonmade.com/ (needs more updating) if you want to explore any of that further.

VIDEO GAMES
best game no one played:

seriously, one of the few games on the wii that wasn't retarded and people completely ignored it. eh.

best game i didn't think i'd like:

i've pretty much always had zero interest in guitar hero, but throw in some new instruments, full band play, character customization, and some great art direction and i'm somehow hooked. DLing new songs on xbox is jacked up. do the female characters look a bit paul pope-ish to anyone else (give 'em the longer hairstyle)?

fav game:

take into account i haven't played mario galaxy yet. i think more than just liking this game i like that it represents a play style that i think will get only continue to get bigger. forcing people to spend long hours playing your game at a time is going to fade out slowly (save for rpgs). perfect pick up, play, and feel satisfied action here. theres a lot to improve on (part 2 better be full open world like burnout paradise), but the ground work set is amazing. tony hawk lost.

best game you're too cool to play:

really. weird looking 2d midgets wrestling each other. the best part is i don't even play this game i just make weird dudes and simulate matches...and love it!

disappointments:
pretty much all the big titles for the ps3/360 were boring. The 1 player in COD4 was ok in a steven seagal sort of way. I had huge hopes for odin sphere but that ended up being pretty boring too. still best 2d graphics since SF3. blue dragon def. isn't as good as i was hoping and lost odyssey isn't looking much better. neither suck, but neither are/will be great. portal was fun, but i dont know if i love it the same way the internet does. can't remember anything else..ha.

MUSIC
good year; lots of stuff i can't remember. I finally got a new ipod so instead of a mix i just collected a shit load of songs i dig. i still have albums i haven't listened to on my desktop so i'm sure i missed a lot of stuff, but whatever 50 took long enough. i started out putting them in a order but kinda gave up halfway thru. DL if you don't think you're too smart to listen to rap and/or don't think you're too cool to listen to FOB. andre3000 should never stop rapping again.

DL HERE: http://actusual.com/$/AOK_2007.zip (we'll see how my server handles this..)
tracklist:
1.
comments from some forum:

"I'm OK with a $20 price tag. I'm OK with a white shirt. I'm OK with a small inventory. I'm OK with limited edition pretension. I'm OK with a design scheme of sharp, pointy instruments, presumably to illustrate how tough the wearer is. I'm even OK with some designs being bigger than justifiable.

However, paying $20 for a white shirt with swords on it, which is for sale beside a shirt which is nearly identical except for the swords being a bunch of knives, and having those designs, both of which take up too much surface area to appeal to me, be the only two designs offered on a site which plans to be incredibly limited? No thanks.

I think what really gets me is the lack of thematic variation. Especially as the first thing I think of when I hear "A-OK" is not stabby objects."
